Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation, was invited to attend the celebrations for this year's International Women's Day (IWD) in Hong Kong, March 19-23.
After meeting with Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Huang attended the celebrations for IWD and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Women, the All-China Women's Federation Hong Kong Delegates Association, the Ladies' Committee of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, and the Hong Kong and HK CPPCC(Provincial) Members Association.
She also took part in the inauguration of the Sixth Council of the All-China Women's Federation Hong Kong Delegates Association and communicated with a group of local organizations, including the Hong Kong Women Professionals and Entrepreneurs Association, the Hong Kong New Youth Energy Think Tank and the Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong.
Huang visited a service center of the Hong Kong Family Welfare Society, the service department of the Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association, and the Diocesan Girls' School, where she learned about the progress of women and children's development and exchanged ideas on women's affairs with the Executive Committee members and representatives of the ACWF Hong Kong Delegates Association.
Huang publicized Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, especially the important statements involving Hong Kong and Macao made by Xi Jinping and the spirit of the just-concluded two sessions.
She briefed the attendees on the women's movements and historical missions of women and their federations in the Chinese mainland under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
She also spoke highly of Hong Kong women's patriotism and devotion to Hong Kong, as well as their contributions to economic and social development and their experience in maintaining ties with women and serving society and families.
"'One country, two systems' is the greatest advantage of Hong Kong, and the country's reform and opening-up offers Hong Kong its grandest stage," Huang noted.
She hoped women in Hong Kong will further increase their national consciousness and patriotism, implement the principle of "one country, two systems" and the Basic Law in an all-round way, firmly support the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government and the governance of the executive officer and actively integrate into the national development strategies and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The ACWF will always strongly support Hong Kong women in deepening exchanges and cooperation with women's federations in the mainland, and strive for the common development and prosperity of Hong Kong and the motherland, and for the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in the new era, Huang stated.
Wang Zhimin, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong met with Huang's delegation. Vice director Qiu Hong and Tan Tieniu also attended the celebrations.
