Several experts in women's studies and legal issues recently shared their views on the implementation of China's anti-domestic violence law over the past three years.

The Anti-Domestic Violence Law of the People's Republic of China came into effect on March 1, 2016.

Since the law was passed, many provinces have formulated local regulations and policies to promote implementation. Women's federations and relevant departments have strengthened training on knowledge and skills for fighting such abuse.

As of November 2018, courts nationwide had handled 5,632 cases involving applications for personal protection orders and issued 3,560 in total. These orders have effectively curbed the incidence of domestic violence and protected victims' safety and dignity, say officials.

Experts confirmed that the law has exerted positive influence on the public's view in terms of making more people realize that domestic violence is not a family affair and that authorities should intervene in domestic violence cases.

They also said more specific rules should be introduced to better implement the law.

Let's watch an animated cartoon, produced by the All-China Women's Federation, about how the law enables people to protect themselves and help others.
